The Signature Series is series of very special instruments intowhich attention and time have lavishly been poured. Artistic inlays ofvarious designs are used with materials including, but not limited to,abalone shell, white, gold and black mother of pearl shell, woolymammoth ivory and legal elephant ivory, reconstituted stone, brass,copper, pewter, nickle and various fine woods including ebony, holly,quilted sapele, pomelle bubinga, curly koa, curly zebrawood, etc. Ipersonally, individually hand cut with a jeweler’s saw and inlay all ofthe pieces and engrave some to add detail and beauty. I also usebinding on the edges of all of these instruments, individually cuttingthe binding and the channel into which it goes. The binding is usuallyebony, holly, curly koa, bubinga or zebrawood.
When theconstruction is completed, then begins the approximately one month longfinishing process. This process involves the spraying of 18 coats ofinstrument lacquer as well as MUCH sanding (wet and dry), rubbing, andbuffing. This is a very time consuming process, but the finish that itproduces is beautiful to behold.

DISPLAY PIECES
I have recently begun to make Wall Display Pieces from which to hang a Signature Series Psaltery or Dulcimer. Most of these Display Pieces are designed for a particular psaltery or dulcimer and they are designed to compliment the instrument to form a complete image. The instrument can be taken down and played to provide musical and auditory pleasure and then placed on the display piece to offer visual beauty and pleasure as well. This is truly functional art. These are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that draw the eye quickly to become the centerpiece of the wall and the subject of conversation and admiration.
